Your
Name: Chris Vander Kaay
Your Location: The frigid straits of Celebration, Florida
What You Do: Here at Cyberlight, I write and draw the J.C. Leever comic, and I'm working together with JC Servant on a concept called Artemetropolis; elsewhere, I do very little
Your Interests: Screenwriting, Filmmaking, Podcasting (I do the Studio Upstairs podcast and the CVA Podcast)
Your Dislikes: Not a big fan of the color purple, the smell of hospitals, missing the first few minutes of a film, and death
Your Favorite Bands: Pushstart Wagon, Tommy James and the Shondells, U2, Johnny Cash, The Southern Sea, and many many other groups you've never heard of
Your Favorite Writer: okay, deep breath...David Mamet, Brian Michael Bendis, J. Michael Straczynski, Robert Rodriguez, and Frank Spotnitz
Your Secret Origin: No, that's too personal. I'm just going to make something up instead. Here it is: Twenty-seven years ago, a crying young child was pulled from the woods after a comet crashed into the Earth. Though government agents rushed to the scene to cover it up, local farmers had already taken the child away. He was raised as a human being, but never fit in because of his extra arm and his penchant for saying inappropriate things like "Are you really going to wear that outside?" He grew to learn the niceties of society, things like using a fork and not killing anyone. He embraced the arts later in his life because of the ability to create worlds that he controlled, making up people he never actually had to talk to. He was in his element. Though a horse riding accident would take away his legs, it would never break his spirit. He still writes his story on an old-fashioned typewriter, and mails it to himself, at which point he transcribes those pages into a computer and emails it to the people who make it happen.
Your Future Plans In Comics: Well, think of any villain in a James Bond film. Remember the scene where he talks about his plan? Well, take out phrases like "world domination" and "global ruler", and just add "total recreation of the comics medium". That's basically my plan, in a nutshell.
Favorite Bible Verse: A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast; but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel. -Proverbs 11:28
