Jo
Your Name: Jo Ras
Your Location: Montgomery, IL
What you do: I’m a Teachers Assistant at a School
for Autistic kids. Also I’m the creator of Corn on the Cob comics.
Your Interests: I love to listen to Christian music on
the radio. I like to draw comics. I like to laugh and make people laugh. I like
watching Saturday morning cartoons. The Flintstones are a fav. I love to read
my Bible and see all Gods promises for us.
Your Dislikes: There are only a few things that truly
make me irate. One of those things is injustice, anywhere period!
Your favorite bands: I like listening to the latest Christian
music on the radio, mainly Klove. I guess some of my favs would be Rebecca St
James, Newsboys, Chris Tomlin, Todd Agnew, Avalon, Philips Craig & Dean,
David Crowder band. There’s really too many to list.
Your favorite writer: I love reading and there are really
too many to list. To name a few that have stood out, N.T. Anderson, and loved
reading the AD Chronicles by Bodie and Brock Thoene. Of course I love the Bible
with the best author of them all - God.
Your secret origin: I was born in Australia and grew up
in Sydney. I became a Christian at 16 years old and attended an Italian Church,
the International Life Center AOG, for most of my Christian life. I studied
Tabor Bible College for 5 years. After graduating with my Bachelors in Christian
Counseling, I worked for 5 years in Mental Health as a rehab support worker.
In the middle of all that I got married to a wonderful God fearing man. We then
both came to the U.S. of A in 2005. That is when this whole comic thing started.
God impressed on my heart to illustrate scripture and get people to read the
word of God for themselves. As for the origin of my drawing ability, that started
as soon as I was able to incorrectly hold my pencil in my left hand.
Your future plans in comics: I hope to be doing comics
for as long as God allows for me to serve Him this way. It really is a pleasure
and honor to use my ability (however small that it) for his eternal glory.
Favorite Bible verse: I have so many, but one I love
to recite is
Philippians 2:9-11
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father
