My secret origin: Hmmmmmmmm………I was born in North, SC since 1982, I had an interesting childhood, did a lot of drawing when I was younger. I drew so much that well my folks had to hide my filler paper so I can have some for school. While growing up, I was teased a lot and other things happened so I retreated into my own imagination and created a lot of characters and stories to cope with a lot of things. In other words, for a season I used my art to cope with life.

When I got into high school I battled with depression at some points. When I was 15 I got saved at a Christian play (imagine that) and that was the beginning of the journey God had for me. A few months after I was saved, I still drew characters; I had a desire in my heart to do Christian comics. So I started to draw more and create short stories of my characters. And I did, numerous ones. Then I discovered Toonami on Cartoon Network and started to watch Anime. The more I got into the stories the more I saw the need for a really good Christian Cartoon. I was raised on Superbook and the Flying House. But to see a really nice Christian Anime as of yet is still a dream. So in between this I heard the call of God on my life for ministry, preaching and teaching and stuff. So for the first few years around 3 of them I struggled with doing a Christian comic because it wasn’t the ‘conventional’ thing to do. During this time I created a Spiritual warfare spy espionage story called Anointed Class G. And I worked on that heavily.
So I started to study a lot of weapons and armor and a lot of influences from watching some anime that I like one of them was Sailor Moon.

I had a dream of seeing more Christian cartoons but not just cartoons but comics and manga as well as video games in the main stores for the Gospel to be reached on a wider scale. So I started to learn more about animation, and stories, and how to make a comic.

When I went to college @ the University of South Carolina in 2000, I majored in English because I wanted to become a author of many books. During this time in my life, my own calling for ministry became more real to me and so, between the spiritual conflict of my own interests and the call of God on my life I had to stop drawing for a season. In about a few months later in 2001, I had a dream and the concept of LP was born.

So I started to create Lightning Prophetess. And the rest is history. Even to this day I still struggle with the use of comics and manga as ministry.

But the more that I have seen from Cyberlight and the emails that I received shows that there is a great need for more Christian Comics and Manga on the web. But not just on the internet but also in the mainstream society. We can witness to the world yet, not be caught up in the trapping of the world. And in the world of comics esp. Christian ones we must always keep our first focus and that is Jesus Christ and witnessing for Him. So I thank God for the unique opportunity to use those gifts and talents to build for the kingdom.

Future Plans in Comics: Finish up Hype of Betrayal (LP Side story) in the AA Mangazine, start drawing and publish the LP graphic novel (Lightning Prophetess Extended Version) by next spring, in a few months I am doing a short run series called, Demon Hunter Force 5, it’s a cross like Totally Spies and a little bit more slapstick than LP. Getting through Volume 2 of the online version of LP by Christmas (I hope). But most importantly, continuing to minister and make pretty pictures for Cyberlight ^_^
