'Jesus a man who was completely innocent, offered himself as a sacrifice for the good of others, including his enemies, and became the ransom of the world. It was a perfect act' - Mahatma Gandhi
Love hurts. I’m not talking about a shallow kind of love (like the way I feel about pizza and kung-fu movies) but a deep, core of your being type of love. The sort of love that Jesus talked about. A sacrificial love and concern for the wellbeing of our fellow man. But the thing is, that kind of love comes with a hefty price tag. Jesus knew the cost. But he didn’t just teach it. He lived it. He expressed his love by reaching out and touching the people that society deemed to be ‘untouchable’, he healed people’s bodies and spirits, he took on the authorities and advocated on behalf of the poor and then made the ultimate sacrifice by dying on the cross. But the story didn’t end there and it doesn’t end there for us. We also have a responsibility to love. And what I’ve learnt over the years is I SUCK at it! Every time I try to love people the way I’m supposed to I fail miserably. But even when I’m in the middle of beating myself up for being pathetic part of me knows that God has already forgiven my shortcomings. Why? Because he loves me. In fact, he loves me (and you) so much that he sent his son, Jesus. And for that I am eternally grateful.
Peace out.
